While state schools are regulated by the Secretary of State for Education through extensive powers, independent schools are permitted greater freedoms on condition that their policies and practices meet certain standards.

This introductory course aims to introduce governors to those standards, their link to inspection and to discuss ways to weave them into the fabric of the school and monitor compliance.
