AGBIS is pleased to provide the following eLearning courses which are free for governors of our member schools:

eLearning Course in partnership with NGA - Clerking in new contexts: independent schools

If you’re currently working as a governance professional outside the independent schools sector and are considering developing your career by moving into the sector, then this module is for you. Broken down into eight key topics this module provides the orientation to help you work effectively with independent school governing boards. Using a mix of practical activities and immersive consolidation tasks you will develop a sound understanding of the rules, practices and governance environment you can expect to find within the sector. The module has been developed in partnership with NGA and you will need to register this module through their website by clicking the button below.

AGBIS eLearning Course for New Governors

This course provides an overview of the governance of independent schools for newly appointed governors; ideally all governors should complete this course within one month of being appointed.  It will give governors an understanding of the core responsibilities before embarking on their new role.

AGBIS eLearning Course - Safeguarding Children

This course provides a complete guide for governors of independent schools on governors' child protection responsibilities.  Unlike most safeguarding courses this training focuses on the role of governors in safeguarding, which differs considerably to that of staff. The course can be undertaken over a number of sessions.
