This seminar will be led by Richard Harman, Chief Executive, AGBIS and Simon Hyde, General Secretary and Membership Secretary, HMC.

Guest speakers are Simon Davies – former Headmaster & CEO at Eastbourne College, and a HMC Registered Appraiser; Sarah Thomas - former Head of Bryanston and conducts heads’ appraisals; and Gus Lock - Headmaster at Haberdashers’ Boys’ School.

AGBIS and HMC are running a joint seminar on heads’ appraisal and why it is so important. Effective appraisal can inform how a head works on his/her vision, aims and authenticity and on their relationships and communication with all stakeholders. This seminar will help governors to develop an understanding of how they may best support and challenge their head as well as identify their continuous professional development needs. There will also be sessions on appraisal from an appraiser’s and appraisee’s point of view.
