Guidelines for Governors

Guidelines for Governors is the definitive work on the governance of independent schools. It is a summary of principles intended to be supplemented by ever-changing guidance notes available elsewhere on this website or from the AGBIS office.  The 1999 edition of Guidelines was a best-seller, nearly ten thousand copies were sold; it has been revised four times since then.

Guidelines for Governors (Issue 2011), is available for free download in pdf format to AGBIS Member schools. Please login using the Members' Login above. Then scroll down the Members Menu on the right of the site. Go to Publications, then Guidelines for Governors. 

The Guidelines for Governors (Issue 2011), is also available in a printed hard copy format at a cost of £7 per copy for Member schools and £8 for Non-member schools, inclusive of postage and packing (except for overseas locations where postage will be charged at cost - please email admin@agbis.org.uk for a postage quote).
