AGBIS

Association of Governing Bodies of Independent Schools

COMMITTEE

AGBIS is a registered charity governed by an Executive Committee that meets at least once every school term.  Committee members are nominated by member school governing bodies, a ballot is held and results are announced at the AGM.  Successful nominees serve initially for a three year period.

AGBIS has two seats on the ISC Governing Council and at least one on each ISC committee.  Officers also meet with their opposite numbers in the associations for Heads and Bursars within ISC.

The 2008/09 Committee comprises 15 elected and 1 co-opted members.   A proportion of the committee retire each year in rotation.

The Executive Committee and its Officers speak for governing bodies in consultations with government departments and to other public bodies, on a wide range of educational issues.

The Committee is also responsible for keeping proper accounting records and over-seeing the application of resources and funds during each financial year.

The Committee and those elected to honorary appointments are listed under People,  using the link above.
