AGBIS regional meetings are gaining popularity and we are keen to maintain this momentum. A typical meeting will take place in the late afternoon or early evening at a hosting school. The programme is based on two or at the most three short, sharp presentations on topical subjects, followed by a networking session over a glass of wine and nibbles/light supper. You may have recently opened a new building and this is a good chance to show it to other schools. From start to finish the meeting will last either side of three hours and provides a perfect chance for governors from neighbouring schools to meet at the end of the working day and discuss matters of mutual concern or interest.
AGBIS provides substantial administrative support with lists of schools in the local area, address labels, template documents and suggestions on presentations. Sponsorship of such events is easier to find than one might think with professional firms happy to be involved. Caterers are also happy to be involved and show off their wares to governors from other schools.
It is hoped that once an event has happened in an area, that a group might form and administer itself, rather as has happened with Bursars all over the country and Chairmen of Governors in a few places.
